Fires were blazing through the dense forests surrounding Multnomah Falls, just outside of Portland, Oregon. It had been a hot, record-breaking temperature summer… the sun was relentless, and the rain that the Pacific Northwest was known for was nowhere to be seen.
The earth was parched… little more than a dry tinder box that had been set aflame. The smell of smoke filled the air throughout the city of Portland. The wind whispered the deep pain of the burning forests to the city’s inhabitants.
There had to be something we could do… but what?
A friend of mine – a fellow sex witch – thought it was the perfect time for pleasure magic.
As she climaxed with her partner, she envisioned rain pouring from the sky, extinguishing the flames and nourishing the thirsty earth.
Later that night it poured, and it poured, and the flames slowly subsided.

What is Sex Magic?
Before we begin, let’s address exactly what sex magic is. In the most basic terms, sex magic is the harnessing of energy generated either in solo or partnered sex or kinky play to create internal or external change in the world. I mean, orgasms are pretty magical just on their own, right?
This is the beauty of sex magic. It isn’t anything that is other than you. It is the generation of your own power through sex or kink. It sends that radical energy out into the universe to create change.
Intention is Everything in Sex Magic
It’s time for a bit of journaling. Write about what specifically your intention is for your sex magic ritual. What are you wishing to manifest, draw to you, or heal? This is perhaps one of the most important aspects of sex magic. Take your time with this part of the process. See it, smell it, feel it, and experience it in your mind, body, and heart as if it is already here. It is on its way!

Clearing
Before we start a sex magic ritual, we want to clear any negative or stagnant energy from the space.
A good way to start this is by cleaning. There is a reason that witches love their brooms! Sweeping the dust, dirt, and bad vibes right out the door clears the way for magic.
If you are performing your ritual in your bed, make sure you have clean sheets and pillow cases. Helpful herbs to use in the clearing process include sage or rosemary. I also enjoy lighting palo santo for clearing.
Finally, I cleanse my body in the shower, often utilizing a salt scrub, and I imagine a pure light flowing through me like a waterfall, assisting me in letting go of anything that I no longer need.
You could also do a ritualistic cleansing and blessing of any of your toys or implements.
For example, a blessing for my leather whip might sound like this: May this leather whip harness the power of wind and the direct action of lighting. As I feel your touch upon my skin, may I blaze bold new paths within my latest film project. May I receive your lessons with grace, with resilience, and with the courage to face adversity.

Setting the Scene
As you prepare for your ritual, you will want to adorn your space and perhaps create an altar. Bring in art, candles, and aspects from nature that resonate with the energy you are calling in. Some of these items might be crystals, rocks, flowers, seeds, or fruits. This is where your intuition, imagination, and vision come into play.
Casting a Circle
The simplest way to cast a circle is to envision a space of protection and magic around you and your partner… if they are participating in the ritual. I will call into this circle any specific support I might need from guides or helping spirits.

The Magic of Kink in Sex Magic
As you embark in your kinky sex magic ritual, keep in mind your intention. A mantra can be helpful in retaining your focus and harnessing the energy and connection built during your kink scene. So if you are calling for peace and safety during times of war, you may focus on those feelings. Visualize what peace and safety look and feel like in your body, then as energy and pleasure amplify during sex or kinky play, envision the feeling of peace growing around you.
Your climactic orgasm is the big release of this energy. We are sending that magic, that energy, that intention out into the world.
Practice Gratitude
After you have climaxed and released your spell, bask in the afterglow of endorphins and magic. Feel the openness of your heart and your connectedness to all people and things.
Stay in this high vibrational frequency of gratitude as you thank and release any helping spirits that you called upon.
When you are ready to return to your day, imagine the circle that you cast opening for your re-entry to the ordinary world. You may want to close the ritual by saying, “The circle is open but unbroken.”
