Rome, the Eternal City, is known for its rich history, stunning architecture, and vibrant culture—it is easily one of the most amazing spots on the globe. I happen to personally love Rome because I have an inexplicable natural sense of direction when I’m here—my feet just automatically know where to go. (So much so it freaks my husband out! Clearly, I was Roman in a past life!)
However, beyond its ancient ruins and Renaissance art lies a sensual and romantic side that beckons to those seeking a more… intimate experience.
From not-to-miss restaurants to erotic nightlife, here’s a guide to the sexiest things to do when visiting with your lover or on your own. Take advantage of all of the sex and sin that put the risqué in Rome—neighborhood by neighborhood.
Trastevere: Embrace Your Inner Bohemian in Rome
While Trastevere is close to the Vatican, don’t let the location of this neighborhood fool you. There’s no need to clutch your rosary beads in this Bohemian paradise.
Although when all is said and done you might need to make a trip to the confessional after a night out here. Trastevere is known for its adventurous and unconventional vibe, and its bars and restaurants cater heavily to the LGBTQ+ crowd. Here are a few spots we recommend:

Freni e Frizoni
This trendy bar is known for its eclectic crowd and vibrant ambiance. It has a lively nightlife scene and often hosts themed events, live music, and DJ sets. It is an ideal spot for a night out with your significant other before going back to your hotel room for some sex—or to find an easy hook-up with a stranger for one night.

Villa Farnesina
Villa Farnesina is a celebrated spot in this district, as the villa itself is a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture and art. The highlight of Villa Farnesina is undoubtedly Raphael’s frescoes in the Loggia of Cupid and Psyche. This series of frescoes, completed between 1517 and 1518, depict scenes from the mythological and highly forbidden love story of Cupid and Psyche.
Monti: Find Lust, Love, and Laughter in Rome’s Oldest Neighborhood
In Monti, the heartbeat of Rome pulses with an irresistible allure. Stroll down cobblestone streets and be seduced by vibrant murals and hidden courtyards—perfect for a stolen kiss (or, let’s be honest, pull up the hem of your sundress and have a quick fuck). Here are the sexiest things to do in Monti:

Ristorante Perpetual
A true hidden gem, Ristorante Perpetual offers a culinary experience that you will not forget. From its discreet entrance to its intimate ambiance, Perpetual invites diners into a world of gastronomic delight and sensory indulgence. This spot is a beautiful and understated foodie heaven. And really, we found it to be foreplay for our tastebuds.

Ice Club
This bar might be made entirely of ice, but don’t for a moment think that it will turn down the heat. Ice Club brings a touch of a Nordic atmosphere to the heart of Rome, and while the indoor temps fall well below zero, you will no doubt get your blood pumping for some late-night sex once last call passes. And as far as a drink recommendation? The Ice Sprite is my fav.
Campo de’ Fiori: From Market to Midnight
By far, this is one of my absolute favorite spots in Rome. I first discovered it after the sun had already set—it was the perfect place for hubs and me to enjoy some outdoor drinks and people watching. However, I would be remiss to tell you not to make a point of visiting it during the day. Here are my favorites:

Campo de’ Fiori Market
This is the oldest market in Rome and is open every morning except Sundays. This is the right place to buy some Roman specialties and get some food for a picnic in any of Rome’s parks (we headed to Villa Borghese). However, once the market shuts down, this space becomes a noisy and cosmopolitan meeting place and features tons of cocktail bars and clubs catering to everyone—no matter your orientation or gender preference. If you’re single and want to mingle, or if you are with your partner and want to party like a local… this is the spot.

If you know a visit to Rome is in the cards, make a reservation for Pierluigi today. (I’m serious; do it right now!)
This is my most favorite restaurant in Rome—I recommend it to everyone (and it has never once disappointed). Tucked away in Piazza de’ Ricci, my husband and I only discovered this on the advice of a Roman local. It is a sexy, romantic spot, and I recommend sitting outside—day or night. Make sure you ask for an order of squash blossoms and keep your eyes peeled as it is entirely possible to have a celeb sighting—this restaurant is a fav of Tom Cruise, Olivia Munn, Priyanka Chopra, and Amal and George Clooney… among others.
Navona and Pantheon: Where Passion Meets Rome’s History
This Roman neighborhood offers a beautiful blend of ancient history, Baroque grandeur, and vibrant energy—day and night. Here’s what you should see and do:

Piazza Navona
At its heart lies the iconic Piazza Navona, a bustling square surrounded by elegant palaces, charming cafés, and the magnificent Fountain of the Four Rivers by Bernini. I have spent hours and many happy afternoons at one of the restaurants next to the fountain, drinking wine. And when it comes to grabbing a souvenir, I recommend checking out the local artists. I have purchased multiple paintings and watercolors from the litany of modern-day Da Vincis that flock here every day.

Flirt Club
This is a couples-only club (however, single women are allowed, sorry, fellas) that offers a passport to a world of luxury, sensuality, and adventure—and promises to bring your wildest fantasies to life. It is exclusive and incredibly sophisticated—but know that drop-ins are not a thing. You have to apply to become a member. However, it is open to couples no matter gender or orientation. Plus, while it does allow on-premises sex and swinging, and features playrooms and fetish areas, it’s okay to simply be a voyeur, engage in soft swapping, or take advantage of the dancing, drinks, and gastronomy.
Pigneto: Rome’s Hippest Neighborhood
Often hailed as Rome’s “Brooklyn,” Pigneto is a neighborhood brimming with artistic flair and a distinctively alternative spirit. Once a working-class district, the area has evolved into a creative hub and is known for its indie music scene, trendy cafes, and quirky boutiques. If you consider yourself a hipster, here’s what to know:

Street Art Exploration
This neighborhood is known for its vibrant street art scene. I encourage you to grab your lover’s hand and take a leisurely walk through the neighborhood’s streets and alleys to discover colorful murals, graffiti art, and urban expressions that add to its creative energy.

This café and restaurant is a Pigneto institution. Serving delicious Italian cuisine in a charming setting, the spot is a favorite of ours—and we’ve been for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Additionally, it’s a great place to enjoy an aperitivo prior to an evening out. I recommend the gnocchi with lamb and broad beans if you have dinner reservations.
Innamorarsi di Roma… Fall in Love with Rome!
Personally, I know I could visit Rome a hundred times and still not see everything. While I am not overly superstitious, but there is one more thing that is always on my Rome to-do list. And that’s to make a quick visit to the Trevi Fountain. Legend has it that you should throw a coin with your back to the tub. Then, turn quickly to meet the moment when the coin enters the water. It means you will certainly return to Rome.
