If you’re craving a vacation that is as haunted as it is sexy, then you’re in luck as we have rated the best and spookiest hotels in the country. The U.S. is dotted with glamourous hotels that are not only oozing with history—they’re also bursting with ghostly guests who never bothered to check out.

From luxurious lobbies to creaky hallways, the spookiest hotels in the U.S. don’t just offer a place to get cozy with a lover, but also a chance to get close and personal with the paranormal. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker or are just looking to spice up a sexy weekend away, these haunted havens promise a stay that’s sure to send chills down your spine.

Ready to spend a night with the unexplained? Check out these eerie destinations where the spirits roam free.

The Stanley Hotel—Estes Park, Colorado

Nestled in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains, The Stanley Hotel is no stranger to ghostly gossip. This grand dame of haunted hotels famously inspired Stephen King’s The Shining, and trust us, it lives up to its reputation. Founded in 1909 by F.O. Stanley, inventor of the Stanley Steamer, the hotel plays home to strange sounds, sudden chills, and the faint sound of piano music drifting through empty rooms.

Rumor has it that Stanley still roams the halls alongside his wife, Flora, who’s been known to tickle the ivories on occasion. And if you’re feeling brave, you might want to book a night in Room 217—where King himself stayed and where luggage has been known to mysteriously unpack itself, lights flicker on and off, and things other than you and your lover will go bump in the night.

The Queen Mary—Long Beach, California

Once a regal ocean liner, The Queen Mary is now permanently docked in Long Beach, California, as a hotel—however, it seems some spirits never got the memo. This floating hotel has a dark, decadent history filled with tragic deaths and chilling happenings. During World War II, she served as a troopship known as “The Grey Ghost,” and apparently, some of those voyagers stuck around for eternity.

Guests have reported hearing disembodied footsteps echoing in empty hallways, spotting women from a bygone era lounging by the pool, and even seeing apparitions in the engine room. But if you’re really in for some late-night excitement, spend a night in Cabin B340, where you and your partner will definitely not be alone. It’s reported that the resident poltergeist not only likes to “watch” by turning on the lights but it will also join in on your action, ripping the bedsheets from the bed. This cabin is not for the faint of heart.

The Crescent Hotel—Eureka Springs, Arkansas

Looking for a sexy retreat with a dark, kinky side? Then look no further than The Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Built in 1886, this Victorian beauty doubles as a haven for haunted happenings. But what really sets the hotel apart is its shady past as a hospital for terminally ill cancer patients, run by a quack of a doctor in the 1930s. Let’s just say that many of the place’s former patients have decided to take up a permanent residence.

The hotel’s primary ghost, a stonemason named Michael, met his end during the hotel’s construction and now supposedly haunts Room 218. Michael is apparently hellbent on making his displeasure with the room’s guest well-known, and will move furniture, create cold spots, and flicker the lights. But he isn’t alone either, some guests have said they saw a Victorian lady lingering near the bed—and the specter of a nurse sometimes wheels a gurney through the halls.

Oh, and did we mention that there also used to be a morgue on site? Who’s down for some necro play?

The Omni Parker House—Boston, Massachusetts

Boston has long been known for its historic haunts, and the Omni Parker House sits right in the thick of it. Open since 1855, this grand hotel is steeped in rich history and a whole lot of otherworldly intrigue. From its founder, Harvey Parker, to other ethereal guests, many ghosts have opted not to check out—for all eternity.

Apparently, guests have reported ghostly figures materializing in mirrors, elevators stopping at random floors (with no passengers inside), and strange icy-cold sports that are more than just a draft. Room 303 is the most infamous in the hotel and is known for its strange, whispered voices and flickering lights… so much so that it’s been turned into a storage closet! But that hasn’t put a stop to the paranormal activity, either.

The Bourbon Orleans Hotel—New Orleans, Louisiana

New Orleans, with its sexy mix of voodoo, history, and decadence, is a ghost hunter’s paradise. And right in the heart of the French Quarter is the Bourbon Orleans Hotel, a place so haunted you’ll be hard pressed not to spot a spirit. And there’s little wonder why. The hotel has been a ballroom, a convent, and an orphanage–the hotel is packed to the brim with restless souls.

What’s more is that hotel visitors have spotted Confederate soldiers roaming the hallways and the ghosts of young children playing near the ballroom. And in that very same ballroom, a lone dancer is said to twirl across the floor… even though the music has stopped playing.

New Orleans is all about mystery, and the Bourbon Orleans Hotel serves up the most tantalizing ghostly cocktail.

Step into the Unknown on Your Next Sexy Getaway

Any of these hotels offers so much more than just a hot and horny romp between the sheets—and history and haunting will blend to create an unforgettable experience.

Whether it’s a knock on your door from the other side or a shadow passing by your bedside, these spooky hotels deliver an irresistible combination of luxury and the paranormal. So, why settle for the ordinary with your lover when you could add a ghostly companion to the fun?
